Squeeky clutch pedal
Recently I've noticed that my clutch pedal sometimes makes an odd noise when I depress it. The noise began around 17000 miles, and corresponded to a very noticable increase in the amount of buzzing I'm getting from the transmission. Observations:
- My car is a later MY '01.
- It does not always make the noise. I haven't noticed a correlation to temperature, humidity, transmission gear, speed, etc.
- It's not random. It usually goes in spurts - today it did it every time I pushed the clutch pedal in, both on my way to work and on my way home (9 hours apart, 30 degrees difference). Yesterday it did not do it on the to work, but did on the way home and when I went grocery shopping (about 30 minutes apart).
- As noted, it started at about 17k miles (about 3 weeks ago). I installed a new stereo about the same time the noise appeared, but I can not see anything dragging or otherwise affecting the clutch pedal's motion.
- I can feel it through my foot as well as hear it.
- The sound can best be described as a "woo" sound. Possibly like air in a tube (not hissing though), or something dragging along a wet rubber pad.
I'm taking it to my local dealer next week to hopefully have the clutch TSB done to get rid of the buzzing, and have them look at the clutch pedal thing. Any thoughts?
