Default Squeally brakes

For the past month one of my brakes has been squealing. I swear it is the front driver. I took it to Honda and they said they checked the pads / rotors on all four corners. The pads / rotors were fine with only 33K miles. Honda said they took the pads off the rear driver, scuffed them and then coated them with some kind of stuff. Well, that did nothing. Squeal still occurs when i am coming to a stop from a slow speed.

Any suggestions to help me from going insane? Thanks.

Normally, squealing brakes are an indication that your pads have worn out (built-in indicator).

Are you sure the pads haven't been changed for 33k? That seems a bit far-fetched, and may be the origin of your problem. Get your pads changed out.

could be break dust maybe... if its under warenty and really bugging you.. take it back again and insist that they fix it. if its an abnormal noise it needs to be fixed!!!!!

Shims. Brake pad shims eliminate brake squeal in stock pads? are your shims in good order?

Most s2ks will easily go well beyond 33k on the original brakes.

Put a thin coat of very heavy grease on the end of the pads where it contacts the caliper bracket.

Keeps the pads from sticking, and works wonders for frequency type squeaks like yours.

I'd first make sure you have OEM pads to begin with. Trying to make aftermarket pads quiet is a giant waste of time.

could just replace the pads and rotors, i always do that while i got the calipers off anyhow. Im hard on brakes and have a tendency to warp rotors, at least on my old car. Not yet on the S2000 but I do it as a precaution any how. 33k is a good duration for brakes though. might as well change them out and eliminate guess work and grease

Car is purely stock. Pads are original OEM. I will get the shims checked out. Thanks for the extra input!

when i had my ap1, the brakes would squeal a lot, much more when they were cold. well, ordered a new pad set(came with new shims). when i took the old pads off, they had plenty of life left, but after replacing, the squeal was gone. not sure what it was. its definitley a cheap fix
