Default Squealing/whistling from AEM CAI

I have a AEM CAI V1 on my S2000. Ever since I put it on a couple of years ago, I get a squealing/whistling noise from 2500 to 4000 rpm under mild throttle.

I'm finally thinking of replacing it with a AEM V2 or some other manufactur's CAI to try and get rid of the noise.

Any thoughts on if this will take care of it, or am I just going to be wasting my $$?

The whistle is normal for the AEM V1 at these ranges, you should hear something at idle as well. Not sure if it's there on the V2 or not.

I wonder if the other brands have the same issue? I've seem/heard CAI's on numerous cars, but mine is the only one that whistles....

Hate to go spend another few hundred $ and have the new one do the same thing.

Could it be something "special" about our motors that is causing the whistling? Some combination of the air flow into the whatever?

Harmonics.
But is it due to the engine, or the CAI?

Would a different CAI not cause the same harmonics?

it's a combination from both.

This has been covered numerous times in various forums on s2ki over the years. There have been several theories as to why it does it and I'm no sure if anyone ever had a definitive answer.

Normal. Mine does it with the stock airbox and spoon snorkel(albeit gutted ala spoon). The theory is that the stock airbox with all the baffles and sound chamber goodness does a good job of suppressing the sound but once you remove those you can hear it loud and clear. It's just harmonic noise that has always been there but was dampened before you changed the stock setup.

At partial throttle you will hear the whistling and above 6k you will hear roaring. It's the best thing about having a CAI. You know there isn't any restriction or baffles going through your CAI to the throttle body. I have the V.2. Don't worry I love the sound and most people do too. If you don't want any whistling get the comptech or that one that is made in Mexico with the red and green on it. I can't remember the name.
