squealing between 2 and 3000 rpm
hello all,
i hear a squaling in a normal acceleration at any gear.
That sound happen between 2.5 and 3000 rpm,its not very loud.
I just talk about this problem to service manager at my honda dealer.
They didnt see the car yet but he have no idea of what im taliking about.
The car still roll as a new but im concern about that weird noise.
If any of you have an idea let me know plz!!
Thank you.

I take it you mean "squealing". This could mean almost anything. Just not enough information. Your "squeal" could be someone else's "grind or graunch or rubbing or whistle or hum".
If it's at the same rpm in any gear, can you duplicate it with the hood open and you revving it manually from the engine bay? Is there anything else you'd like to tell us? It wouldn't be nice if everyone started to give you all sorts of guesses and then find out on the 4th page that you have an AEM CAI.

Ok.....so not to hijack this thread, but I think I'm getting the same thing that villeneuve is getting and figured I would post and kill 2 birds with 1 stone (If mods are going to delete, please PM me so I can copy and paste into a new thread).
My setup: The only engine mods I have are an ACT PP and Comptech flywheel. I have also gutted the airbox, but the noise was there before this mod.
How to reproduce the sound:
The sound is a high pitched "squeal". It's not too loud, and is hard to hear it with the top up (if you can hear it at all). It happens about half the time (maybe more) I accelerate between 3,000 and 4,000 RPM. It happens in any gear, and only when the car is is gear (cannot reproduce with the hood open manually revving). The sound will occur at different times between 3,000 and 4,000 RPM and will go for about 200-500 RPM, then disappear.
I do not notice any difference in the car at all (acceleration, handling, etc.)
I thought it could be the clutch slipping a little, but it does not feel like it is slipping at all.
The clutch isn't that old (~5 months and 8-10K miles).
Any help is appreciated.

It's still really hard to diagnose this type of sound without being there to hear it personally and do some "tests". Information is still too sketchy but I'm going to make a couple of guesses anyway so don't take these as gospel.
Sometimes, intake noises can only be heard when the engine is under load and this high pitched squeal could be the intake whistle that is very common on this car. This is even more accentuated with something like an AEM intake. This noise is also rpm related and if this is what it is, don't worry about it. You wanna re-engineer the whole intake system to get rid of an intake noise?
It could also be the serpentine belt tensioner. It too, can be load sensitive and appear at a specific engine speed. If this is what it is, then it might get worse in time. This will confirm this guess and the tensioner will eventually need replacing. For now, it's not a big deal either.
Then there's the individual driven components that the belt turns - alternator shaft bearing, AC compressor drive system, water pump. Of course, let's not forget the cam chain tensioner.
If you really want to know what it is, you need to have a "handy kinda car guy" listen to it. I'm sure it is a sound that is familiar to such people. (What, you actually expected somebody on the internet to come right out and tell you exactly what it is just from a "squeal" you hear for about 300 rpms someplace in your car?)

Thanks xviper for the info!
You mean you CAN'T diagnose this just from knowing its a "squeal"???
I know that diagnosing anything involving a squeal, grind, whistle, etc. is impossible over the internet. I'm not too worried about it because I haven't noticed ANY change in the cars "feeling".
I've been meaning to take it by a tech at Honda, but haven't really been too worried. Since someone posted I figured I might as well throw my experience out there as well and see if I got any general feedback.

I also use that AEM intake.

Do you think i shoul reinstall the original air filter?
i dont want them to piss me off about the warranty (i have the honda plus 6 year).
