Squeak from rear of car - new rotors and pads
All,
MY00 started squeaking after gettting warm so I figured it was time to get the pads changed and rotors turned. After getting the pads changed the sound was still around and the tech said it was normal and to drive it for a week or so, so I did. It got worse over the week and became unbearable squeaking all the time so I took it back, he said they might have to replace the rotors. They replaced the rotors and put on some new Nisin pads and the sound was still their but not as loud. The car is still squeaking and has become unbearable again, now im getting looks at my car but more out of disgust
Any ideas on what it could be? I am probably going to take it to a dealership and have them inspect the bearing and knuckles etc...
Thanks,
Chris

I will ask about the anti squeal compound and the plates. Any chance that the bearings could be shot?

Hmmm. Could be a slight brake drag or a sticking ebrake that doesn't fully retract or a thin pad warning pin that wasn't reset or it could be a wheel bearing.
The brake thing can be tested by lightly applying the brake. Does the sound change? Apply the ebrake lightly at a time when you hear the noise. Does the noise change? The results of these will confirm or reject the brakes as a possible source.
Test the wheel bearing by doing a constant speed moderate left turn, then right turn. Does the noise change?
If the noise doesn't alter with any of these tests, you may have something else wrong.

The sound happens intermittently usually 30 out of 60 seconds while driving. The sound changes with speed while accelerating it goes away or fades in and out. If I apply the brakes the sound will sometimes go away or starts to sound like a dying seal arrhh arrrh arrh I tried the ebrake and the sound went away for a litle while, I will test the e-brake theory more in the morning.
