how old are the plugs ?, sounds like the air-fuel mixture not burning properly. Once you hit VTEC the air-fuel mixture changes substantially and it puts more strain on the ignition system. If it isn't the plugs it could be an improper air-fuel mixture due to the fuel supply system issue or MAP.

got a similar problem to the op. randomly part of the time after hard accelerating and sometime just by its self in low rpm going slow car will start missing popping and sometimes jerking. runs perfect in every other situation and will stop doing this if i floor it.
