Default Sputter to a start?

So sometimes, very rarely i have instances where i try to start the car and it cranks for awhile, then when i try again it cranks and sputters to a start and the revs are at 1k or below. i have no idea whats the cause but it never happens when the car is cold, sometimes after being driven then parked for 40 minutes other times parked for 4 hours. really random and really confusing. anyone got any ideas?

I have the same symptoms on my 07. It's completely random. It would crank for 5 to 7 seconds and then sputter to life. It would happen after I've driven for a while, shut it down for 15 to 20 minutes and start up. Which would indicate heat soak. However, it would do the same thing after sitting overnight, starting up, driving for a few minutes and then shutting down. I'd return after, say, 5 to 10 minutes and it would display the symptoms.

Given the same conditions on other days, it would start just fine. Also, it does it in winter and summer.

Has anyone else had this problem other than me and 2leftshoes?

BTW, I'm completely stock.

Let me know how that goes wineboy, in the mean time, anymore similar cases pop up? Would be very interested in hearing more about this problem.
