Well, I just hit 22,500 mi today and got a new set of S02' Potenzas at my local tire shop and a wheel alignment.
While the tires were being changed the alignment guy noticed the Spring Spacers that were never removed since I bought the car new 2 years ago.
Now I've read about this before and I still never checked.
:KickingSelf:
I didn't drive it much because it rained like mad today as usual today. I'm anxious to see the difference.
Can anyone else tell me the difference they noticed after they took them off ?
What a Doofus !
Below is the text from the Maintenance Library on Suspension .
The shipping spacers are black rubber inserts that keep the car from settling too low during transportation. If they are not removed during PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) the car will handle very poorly. Just look in the coil springs on all 4 corners to confirm that they are gone.
To find the rear shipping spacers you have to stick your head under the car and look at the springs. In front you reach over the front tire and feel around the spring to insure none are there.
SeaDo, what honda dealer did you purchase your car at? I got my car from a dealer that I know in South Jersey, but he had traded it with an S from Joyce Honda. They had never removed the spacers when they PDI'd the car....and the spacers were on it for the whole drive down to south jersey. I will never take my car there for service.
Also, I'd recommend going back to dealer with spring spacers in hand and letting them know what happened. If you start to have any problems with the shocks/suspension....they need to fix it.
I had this same thing happen. The feels much better with them out...less stiff, less oversteer (in my experience) and much more controllable.
where exactly would u find the spacers at?..is it obvious to see if the cars on a lift..?and wats the worse it can do to the car,,if u drive thousands of miles with them still on it?..let me know..just curious
I just found the same thing this weekend when i was doing the front brakes on my car. I bought the car last year and i thought that the previous owner would of caught this. After all the car is a 2007 and it was 2014 when i bough the car... I"m the second owner on the car too. I found these rubber spacers at 54680 miles.... crazy...
