Default Spoon Magnetic Drain Plug

Well I'm going to go ahead and say yes.

For my first oil change I picked up the Spoon Mag. drain plug set from www.inlinefour.com It seemed like a neat little item and not too expensive so I thought I'd give it a try. Hey, the claim of less metal shards floating around in my engine sounded like a good thing right? Change oil> Install Drain plug> Drive lots> Change oil again> inspect Magnetic drain plug.

To be honest I was surprised and delighted... it actually worked! Though after thinking a bit however... most of those little pieces would most likely have come out along with the old oil when I drained the pan, but then I realized that the drain plug catches them as they make their way through the engine cycle very soon after they're sheared off what ever engine part they came from, keeping them from finding they're way to important engine parts... So...

Thought it was a cool pic and wanted to share... Happy Oil Changing!

How many miles did you have on your oil? Mine never comes out like that.

Aren't you wondering where those little bits came from?

Maybe an oil analysis is in order

I think the oil pickup has a screen to stop shavings, and then there is the filter itself.... So, the magnet may be redundant in the case of the engine. Of course redundancy is good when it comes to saving your engine, no?

Now, the magnetic tranny and diff plugs... there is something I think is very useful especialy when breaking in a new set of gears.

You should try a filter mag.
