I bought a set of two Spoon magnetic drain plugs... but there are no instructions. One plug is longer than the other.

Which goes in the tranny, which goes in the oil pan? The shorter one obviously has to clear something... maybe something that is rotating inside.

Which is which?

They will fit in either place interchangeably. I and others have useed the longer one for the transmission.

A judgement call you would have to make.. they do plug the holes and the magnets do collect particles.

I've had them in the past... they are worth the money for race track drivers (aka roadrace, not drag). There is extreme levels of wear on the engine, going around the track at 8k RPM.

Of course, a couple of coolers would be nice - engine, tranny, and rear end. All run very hot in th ecar.

The longer one does go into the tranny.

For under 50 bucks, I think they are a pretty descent purchase. Everytime I change my oil there is a little bit of debris held by the magnet. They actually do work!
