Default SPF 40 dissolved interior trim

Embarrassed to post this but my sunscreen (SPF 40) on my arm dissolved the thin coating on the plastic trim around the gearshift and hazard/convertible control buttons. It looks horrible now. Any suggestions besides "quit using sunscreen"? I am , as they say, fishbelly white. Repair ideas? I was thinking of completely removing the coating. It's actually shinier underneath. No pix to post.

Wow, that's wacky

I'd try to take all the paint off and see how it looks. Has to be better than a wear mark.

mine got chipped around the shifter and it bugged me, so I took the rest of the paint off, looks a LOT better chrome than bronze with chips.

Thanks all. I'll remove the rest even though I don't care for the chrome look for interiors.

the other options are replacement with oem parts OR buy a dash kit. carbon fiber, brushed aluminum or (ack) even wood. There's even an ultra cool titanium finish, but its only available for right hand drive.
I guess you could paint the parts too but I'd be hesitant about the finish. If honda can't get paint to stick......

Personally, I'm leaning toward brushed aluminum eventually.

Charly,

Check out this thread. One member, Barry WY shows pics of a titanium boot ring replacement which fits over the original damaged boot ring. A post by me in the thread gives a link to another thread with info about how to order this replacement part.
