Speed-shifting the S2000
Hi folks,
I have this question for the experienced S2K owners out there. Does speed-shifting the S2000 fry its STOCK clutch given that the stock clutch isn't exactly this car's strongest point ?

It will put a lot of stress on you engine mounts, transmission, and ,of course, the clutch. No doubt that if you keep doing it the clutch will give out first.

Hello Folks,
A "BIG THANK YOU" to all of you who have chipped in !
Basically and much to my dismay, they were all the answers I expected to get. I wanted an S2K as I always looked at it as one of the best performance cars around but I didn't know it was so fragile. Had I trawled the S2KInt site instead of the numerous S2K promotional sites (which tell you ONLY about the car's positive aspects) I would have been much wiser about the car's vices eg. weak stock clutch and notchy 1st to 2nd shift when cold) and I probably wouldn't have bought it. On the cards, were a Mini Cooper S and an Audi TT but I opted for the S2K because I opted for "more bang for bucks" and also because of its looks. I thought I was making the best choice out of those 3 cars.
I now know (i.e. unfortunately, after puchasing the S2K) that it is not a drag car but here in Malta we only have a drag strip and no circuit-type track so unfortunately when I want to really drive the car hard in a relatively safe enviornment it is the only place I can do so but this weak clutch and iffy tranny puts me off when I use it there. Oh, by the way, I am not being paranoid. I'm telling you this because I have already had an awful experience with this car as soon as I bought it : I bought the car 2nd-hand through a Honda dealership and it came with a dud clutch. They offered to change it under warranty and I opted to fit a stage 2 competition clutch kit which I paid for personally. The damn morons fitted this clutch without even realizing that the flywheel was warped, this ruined the comp clutch straight away. A huge arguement ensued and they opted to fit a standard clutch and new flywheell as long as they would never see my face again and I had to take that option ! At least the car is driveable again, but I am disappointed to have a performance car which I cannot drive hard for a short while on the drag strip because of the car's fragility.
So, no speed shifting for me based on your sound advice !
