it cant detect octane. it'll start knocking with lower octane and the knock sensors will retard the timings
Ah okay, thanks for the clarification

Maybe a US model ecu?
do JDM motor have less sensors??? such as Evap & so on.... I believe US ECU requires more sensors than JDM. (ex. comparison between JDM itr & USDM itr, JDM doesnt have 2nd o2 sensor, but heat sensor)

Mine is also a JDM Model, I got it directly from Japan. Cause I wanted Grand Prix White, and the local Honda dealer told me that he cannot supply me with GrandPrix White cause that colour is not supplied in Europe. So I got a J-Spec Model.

Yes, J-Specs are a little more powerful cause of there compression ratio which is 11.7 to 1, while non J-Specs are 11.0 to 1.

But, you have to keep in mind that in Japan they have 100 ron Fuel and if you do not run your car on high octane fuel such as 95 or 98 + and adding some octane booster, you are going to expierence a flat spot between 4000rpm to 5000rpm.

That is the ECU will read that the fuel is not of the correct octane, and it will automatically retard the motor instead of destroying it.

Apart from that you have the speed limiter of 180km/h.(111mp/h)

Now, If you use the HKS or Greedy, they both work, but myself I went for another route.

Im always running my car on 98 ron fuel, and I have just bought a Mugen N1 ECU,

1. To get rid of the Speed limiter
2. To improve my mid range from a stock car.
3. To allter a bit the Vtec point.

Should be easy to fix.

The engine ECU gets it speed signal from the sensor on the gearbox. This speed signal also goes to the instrument panel.

The instrument panel does a divide by two and has a speed output that goes to things like the EPS, wipers, ABS, and lots of other things.

Move the speed input wire to the ECU so it connects to the speed output on the dash. That way your speed limiter will be at 360km/h which should be sufficient.

Chris.

Wait a minute....so a usdm s2000 should only go to 111mph?! There's no way! I've been up to 120 so far...and that's BARELY 6th gear VTEC.

JDM S2k's speed limiter doensnt allow vtec to kick in on 6th gear. It locks at 180 kph, which is 7500-8000 rpm on 5th gear and exactly 5900 rpm on 6th gear.
