Spark plugs were just sitting there...
Thought I'd just say a little something about this. I have an AP1 (my second one). And I chose to leave this one pretty much stock because modifying can easily become a sickness. Anyways, the previous owner was a very conservative lady that barely drove it. So I really had no reason to double check everything.
10,000 miles later (79,000) total, i noticed the engine was running a little rough. So my first reaction was to change the oil. Better, but still rough, so my next thought was, welp, might as well change the spark plugs. Even though they technically should be good for 20,000 more miles, it's usually the next culprit in a rough running engine. So I pulled......wait, I TRIED to pull the plugs. Cylinder #1 was actually rusted into it's hole, and i ended up almost stripping the damn thing unscrewing it!!!.....When i accomplished that feat, i attacked the 3 other plugs.....I was horrified and shocked to realize that i didn't even need a ratchet to loosen the plugs!! They were literally just sitting there. I couldn't believe I hadn't experienced any catastrophic failures yet!...Long story short, I cleaned out all the holes and put the new plugs in without any fuss, and the engine's purring once again.
Man...let this be a lesson that you should always be vigilant about engine, drivetrain, and brake systems; Even if they're not suppose to need an inspection for 10's of 1000's of miles!

Did you do the sparkplug TSB?
There was a TSB the torquing of spark plugs. You got new plugs for free.
I did it and have had no problems since.
The rusted one causes me more concern.

The first thing i did when i bought the car was flush out and replace EVERY fluid container on the car myself. That gave me a good piece of mind, and a baseline of where everything was....but apparently the plugs should have been on my list too.
ikeyballz- yeah i track my mustang, it's a beast out there, 390bhp/ 374lbs-tq (+- 6hp)N/A with a curb weight of 2687lbs....not nearly as precise as the S2k, but that's part of the fun, manhandling the rig
