Default Spark plugs. NGK PFR7G-11S vs BKR7EIX

What's the difference between these? Would it be better to use one instead of the other? I know the PFR7G-11S is the "original" plug for the S, but noticed that the BKR7EIX is the one that was put in my car by the tuner, when the car was tuned last time.

I believe BKRs are a cooler plug, so I'd go ask your tuner why they chose them - maybe specific to your tune.

Stock plug is Platinum and is NGK PFR7G-11S (do not re-gap)

This is the same plug the dealer will give you, save a few bucks and buy it elsewhere.

Stock Iridium replacement plug is NGK IFR7G-11KS (stock# 7746) (do not re-gap)

The upgraded Iridium replacement plug is NGK BKR8EIX (must be gapped)

Eagle, thanks for the research.

The story is a bit more complicated. Honda had a gasket sealing issue on the base of the first gen plugs, which resulted in the recall, and the "S" seat washer appellation.

The stock NGK is the mid-premium plug http://ngk.com/results_app.asp?aaia=1363104 with the upgraded washer.

The tuner used the lower quality version. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/products/spar...ex.asp?mode=nml

I cannot find info from NGK that the washer is upgraded. More importantly, it is a colder heat range. Which is fine if you turbo or track for long periods of time, but in scandanavia could lead to fouling, and that plug lacks the antifouling platinum coating of the factory plug. http://www.ngk.com/results_cross.asp?pid=BKR8EIX

So I should use either BKR8EIX or PFR7G-11S?

I've been running the BKR7EIX-11 Iridiums for a year now, no complaints they seem to be working well. I think with these plugs you just need to change them more often but they perform well from what I can tell. They should be the correct heat range.

I just got the IFR7G-11ks today and I'M going to install them, I think I'd rather run the plugs a little longer, less maintenance this way. They seem like nice looking plugs.
