I have always been faithful to OEM ever since I got my 2nd s2k.

Its time for a tuneup and I always wondered what is the difference bewtween iridium/platinum NGK plugs AND which will help my car perform at its best ?

I have a all stock setup...I only have a TP. See sig =)

I bought a pack of 7746's, but haven't installed them yet. My current plugs looked fine when I did my VA last year and I haven't put on many miles since.

The difference is how long they last. I'd just go OEM.

Isnt the OEM iridium...price isnt much cheaper vs platinum.

Nope. The OEM NGK are laser platinum and the OEM denso is double platinum.

From my research , Iridium provides a better result. Higher melting point and conducts electricty better then others on market.

Does that mean its better for the stock s2k ?

i installed NGK BKR8EIX a few months ago. I didn't regap it to stock spec but left them as is which i believe is .32 mm, I'm wondering if I should take them out and regap them to stock??

any damage if I leave them at .32mm?

I don't notice anything different and idle is perfect.

Just worried something might happen. Let me know. Thanks.

Just from research, all information points to gapping to the spec of your car. I wouldnt know if there is any damage done to engine. I want to think the worst thing that can happen is you will lose fuel efficiency ?

But hey , I dont know shit about this, hoping someone who knows whats up will chime in.

Double Platinum means both electrodes are platinum. It all has to do with how long each lasts. Copper is actually more conductive and less likely to overheat than platinum and iridium plugs, but they don't last nearly as long.

The OE plugs for the S2000 are platinum, which are the 7722's. The only difference between the 7722 and 7746 is material. They are the same temperature range and gap. From what I've read, iridium is more wear resistant and sparks more easily than platinum. I haven't read any reason why platinum should be chosen over iridium.

The OE plugs for the RSX-S uses are 7746. I don't know why Honda didn't pick the 7746's over the 7722's. Perhaps the 7746's weren't available when the S2000 first came out? IDK.
