Well, while you are researching, i posted an analysis of misfiring a while back, and the NGK coppersperformed well. I already had the Iridiums so I threw them in - since the plugs are so easy to do in this car, I would advise people who value perf for a price to go with the copper NGK's. The SVT Mustang crowd swears by the TR-6's, which are colder and copper - they are gapped along the lines of what Xviper posted, to avoid spark blowout in heavily boosted Supercharged 4.6L DOHC's. It is easily seen on the dynos by giggling lines up near redline.

Platinum are in there for longevity - Mustang drag racers with lots of excperience claim there are a few ponies to be gained out of losing the platinum plugs, but that is in cars with 600-700 whp.

What is the correct Honda part number for the spark plugs (not the NGK number).

It's in your owner's manual. If you have the pre-recall info, just add an "S" to the end of the part number. If you have the post-recall, it'll either have a new stick on correction for the number or it will say the correct number to begin with. In any case, both Denso and NGK numbers are listed. The one with the "S" on the end is the current correct one.

I just recently shipped my car from the US to Belgium and my owners manuel is in my household goods that I haven't recieved yet.
The reason I need the correct Honda part number is, that when my car arrived in Belgium it would not start and had to be towed to the Honda dealer. They pulled the spark plugs and found that they where fouled by gas. They replaced the plugs and it started right up. I got the old plugs from them and when I got home I looked at them and found that the part number on the plugs was different than the one on the box (the plugs had the S at the end). I had the recall done so I know the ones they removed were correct. I want the dealer to order a new set and honda doesn't track them by the NGK number in there system they use there own number (98079-5714H for pre-recall plugs). in order to limit the confusion (there is a language barrier as I speak no french and the people at the dealer where I had the work done speak very little english) I need the correct "Honda" part number, so I can tell them exactly what to order.

Don't know if this will help as the part numbers here may not be universally common:

I'm amazed you can't just go into a Honda dealer and ask for stock S2000 spark plugs.

Why not just go to www.hardtopguy.com, and order the plugs online? Doesn't Jeff ship international?

I would do that if I was just buying plugs to replace them because they were worn, but I want the dealer that installed the wrong plugs to buy them (I paid them for a set of plugs and they are the wrong part number). I'm just trying to make the communication a little more direct by knowing the correct part number before I call them. Buy the way the price for replacing 4 spark plugs was 143.63euro ($176.65), this price includes 24.94euro (21%) tax.

One other question I have, for anybody out there that might have a set of post recall plugs in the Honda boxes. does the NGK number on the end of the box have the "S" on the end or is it only on the plug (i.e. PFR7G-11S). That is what I'm basing my information that thay installed the pre-recall plugs. The end of the box the new plugs came in has the Honda part number 98079-5714H and the NGK part number PFR7G-11.

I'm not so sure that European Honda part numbers will coincide with N. American Honda part numbers anyway. You should post your question in the European forum or the UK forum. I think even some Honda Canada numbers are different from Honda US numbers
