I blew a sparkplug out of the head, taking some threads with it.
Helicoiled as a temp fix.
You DON'T want to do this. The plug won't seat perfectly and will be at a different height in the combustion chamber. Plus, if you're SC, you'll have to replace plugs more frequently anyway. The helicoil won't hold up.
Save yourself the headache and buy a used head for under $500.
Have the dealership upgrade the retainers to AP2 (if an AP1 head).

I would think a timesert would be better for an iron head. Expansion of aluminum might be tricky.
Having a machine shop rework the head might be cheaper by a few hundred, but I think the peace-of-mind of a new (used) head would be worth it.

I have done this twice on 2 S2000 heads. One engine is N/A tuned and used for racetracks - no problems!
Please don't use Helicoil!! Timesert is completly different and much more reliable.
