Spark plug asploded
Well, I was driving home last night, and I heard a loud clicking coming from the engine. At first I thought it was the giant Dodge Turbo Deisel that was beside me at the light, but it drove away, and I could still hear the loud pinging/clanking.
Engine was still running, but it was low on power. I limped it back home (about a mile, I know probably not a good idea, but it was still running...). This morning I started to pull the spark plugs, and voila, the 2nd plug from the front (#2???) was hosed. Blew up good.
I am having it towed to my dealership. I dont know if the spark plug recall was done on it but I have had it in there for its oil changes and maintenance since I bought it.
So, we shall see what they say....

not sure what brand they were, I didnt actually pull out the plug. I doubt they have been changed since it was new, as it only had 42K miles on it.
Anyway, all of it will be covered at Honda's expense.

Congratulations. I would keep all documentation of the repair and insist they "dig deep" (if they haven't already) for any resulting cylinder damage and not just throw a new set of plugs in and call it fixed. This type of failure has led to complete engine failure in the past and they may just be slapping a band-aid on it and blame you for the fallout later. Billman and many others know more than I about this but I would almost insist on a compression and leakdown test and a boroscope if they have the ability. Pulling the head might be overkill. I would go so far as to pay for this myself if they give you a hassle, otherwise this might really come back to bite you in the a$$. Once you pull it out of the shop understand that they are washing their hands clean of this mess and you are on your own.

the same exact situation happen to me, i ended up with a melted spark plug on #2. spark plug #2 seized. half of the coil came off, the other half stayed with the spark plug. pieces of the spark plug fell into #2. scored up #2. the codes were read which showed misfiring in cylinder #2. turns out the whole motor was done. spark plug recall was not done. n this was at 23700 miles.
