To bring up an old post... I bought a Sparco Rev seat a couple days ago and would like to get it installed - however, the stock seatbelt latch doesn't seem to be usable. What have you guys used? (I'm not at the point where I want to go to a full harness, btw.)
You need to mount the latch on your new seat rail or fix it directly on the car.
Ther eis a mounting hole on the right side behind teh seat in the floor which is under the carpet
Problem is, the latch doesn't directly mount to the seat very well. The below pic is a blown up image from the Majest Honda parts site. The bottom part of the latch is a metal bar through which the mounting bolt goes through. It also happens to have a little metal tab that turns into the seat by 90 degrees. It fits into a slot on the stock steat and works to keep the latch from rotating forward or back. (You can barely make out the tab below the bolt.)
Problem is, on the rails there is no corresponding slot so the latch can only be mounted if you rotate it facing almost directly to the front of the car.
Possibly, I can just cut off the tab. Or, get enough washers to space it away from the rails. (I don't recall if the bolt is long enough for that, though.) Another option I've read about is to get a belt-mounted latch from a rear seat, although I'd be worried about the latch and buckle meating up properly. I don't see how I could use a mount point on the floor...
The washer route is the way to go. Mine came with a washer with an OD small enough to to fit inside where the tab is. It looks to be the thickness of about 2 1/2 quarters.
stocky, I got the seat second-hand so I'm not 100% sure which rail this is. It appears to be different from what SoS has pictured on their website for the Taitec rails. But here are the pics, including a closeup of the latch mounting bracket.
