Than how do you pass emmisions when they require testings of the brakes and such?
I am curious b/c I am pretty anal about allowing someone I do not know to drive my car.

Do they ride along with you while you perform the required test for them?

My brother told me how one emmision guy kept stalling out on his My03 when trying to reverse b/c it was in 6th.

vehicle emissions... is smog related

vehicle inspection is what you are talking about, honestly...I can get around that too but I aint mentioning how.

BTW, I leave a carchip logger in my OBD port and can always provide a detailed chart of how my car was driven (believe it or not it has never been abused by anyone).
I'm curious about this aswell any more info?

By the way cdelena where did you find the carchip logger?
Plenty of places to buy them but I am not sure they are still in production..

i had broken a clutch spring retainer, so my clutch was not fully disengaging, since 5th and 6th are both overdrives, the output shaft spins faster than the engine, so i ended up doing my own clutch and switched to comptech flywheel and act clutch

The OP can't even get into 5th and 6th with the engine off, so your situation is not applicable to his.

As per my earlier response:
[QUOTE]It seems the 5-6 shift pieces and shift forks may have been buggered.

Thank you guys all so much for your help.

To those of you who stated that the problem would be solved by driving the car and attempting to slam the car into 6th gear were correct.

I went on a drive this morning and proceeded to get onto the freeway. I tried shifting from fifth to sixth and was locked out... I figured oh well, let me try harded per some of the comments on S2KI. I tried a few more times and voila the car slid into sixth gear! The shift was not very smooth but it went into sixth and never popped out. After a few more 6th gear shifts the car was back to normal. Within the next couple days I am going to change my transmission fluid to be on the safe side and hope that all is well.

I know that it can be difficult to diagnose these things on the Internet so the experience of all of you really helped me out greatly.

One thing that I am wondering is if I should go back to the shop and chew them out, not worry about it and simply never provide them my business or both?
