Something weird happend while driving today....
OK, here I am pulling out of my subdivision taking it fairly easy (half throttle); I ran first gear up to about 6000 rpms when all of a sudden it felt like i was hitting the rev limiter or something. I looked down and i was going like 33mph or something around there. I immediatly pushed the clutch in, and pulled over. Every thing seemed fine. There was no check engine light or anything, so I just continued on with out any problems. Has anyone experienced something like this, or have any idea what happend? Thanks

hmm... cant imagine the engine was to cold. I had started it and let it run for a little bit in the florida sun while i put tire dressing on, and it had 3 bars and everything. Also, I could be a litle off on the speed thing, but I was absolutely certain about the RPMs. It was the first thing i looked at. Hopefully I didnt mess anything up.....

Cold engine limiter actually hits above VTEC crossover point,
VTEC is at 6000 rpm
Limiter is 7000 rpm
VTEC will not engage if the limiter is "activated.
A good forecast that you'll get some fuel cut is no VTEC at 6000 rpm (or whatever your particular crossover point is)

The car is an 01 that has 16K on it. I bought it about a week and a half ago at a Honda dealership in michigan and drove it down to florida (checking the oil every 150 miles or so). The dealership said the changed the oil at 14.5K, so I figured I would just change it right when I got down here. When the problem happend I was on the way to a dealership to have them service it (oil, etc). So, I guess I wont know if it was oil.... Thanks for the help guys, I'm thinking it must have been to cold, and maybe the gauge was a little off??
