I just posted this in the general s2000 forum; I mention it here as well.

Buzzing / Clutch Upgrade & Success -- According to a recent post by Digger on the Upper Mid-West Forum the Penske Honda dealership in Indianoplis just replaced his clutch disk, mentioning it was the second Honda has redesigned for the buzzing problem, and adding the dealership said Honda was pretty happy with the new clutch disk, saying it has eliminated the problem in the vehicles they have used them in.

His reaction after driving:

i had ringing sounds comming from the shifter when i had the stock shift knob on. once i put on the voodoo, the ringing went away.. i just put back my stock knob back on today and the stupid ringing noise came back.. almost sounds like the noise is comming from the knob itself.

I did htis a few days ago and really covered it with alot of grease adn am happy with the results, it also feels very smooth now. If the way I put it back is a "10" on a scale of 1-10 the amount of grease, previously after a TSB -45 there was a "2"

Thanks for the tip

SilverSurfer, I believe I found the source of the ringing shifter. The plate that has the three 10mm bolts holding it is rubbing the nylon bushing that the shifter rides in and I think that the plate vibrating against the nylon bushing is the source of the ringing. If you strike the plate, it makes the ringing sound and I can see where the bushing has been rubbing the bottom of the plate. I greased both the bottom nylon bearing and the nylon bushing very well. If this doesn't silence the ringing, I will make a gasket to fit under the plate and I'm sure that will fix the ringing problem.

BTW, thanks for this post. When I pulled mine out to grease everything, I discovered that the nylon bearing on the end of the shifter is broken in two places and is on the verge of becoming two pieces. It looks like a trip to the parts department is in order before it breaks completely in half.

My shifters always ringing >7000rpm recently it's really bothering me now. Will Shin-etsu grease work? I've been hearing a terrible squeak under my dash now too! It's driving me crazy!
