Hopefully I will get to this this week, wedding has me busy.

Anyway...another noise reduction trick is latching up the soft top as you normally would. Then do one click on the button as if you were folding it back down. It will tighten the front lip of the top and straighten the latch.

DO NOT hold down the button or I'm sure it will eventually damage the motor. Use at your own risk but it's worked for me for 2+yrs with no probs. REMEMBER, JUST ONE CLICK.

It use to have wind noise going 50+mph, now I don't hear it until 65+ but only at 50% noise as oppose to before.

<edit> I would only do this until you have time to do the said OP project to prolong soft top motor. Otherwise, spend the $50 for new latches.

Nice, so i finally have somebody that tried it?

I never actually tried that one click back after latching but the day after i did my DIY a friend told me thats how he stops his from whistling...id rather not put extra stress on the motors, he also has to help his top go down by pushing on it so it might not be a good idea to stress the motor like that

i hope this clears it all up...if not, either i am REALLY REALLY smart or some of you are...not really really smart haha. Remember from the factory the plate goes flush against the frame, so the RED WASHER isnt there when you take it apart, thats all this mod is, adding a washer/spacer.

yea i know i forgot an S after "pull"

Your washer idea is a better solution.

IMO, the stress on the motor is not a much as it may sound to anyone else that hasn't tried it. It's just closing the gap between the front lip of the top and the cushion/liner which has little room to play with. I just threw that precaution out there. I don't think it's anymore stress then holding down the button past the full extension of the soft top arms.

MS Paint FTW, lol.
