I like this idea.

I've got a particularly stubborn tear about 3" long that has resisted the normal methods (tearaid). The rubber cement should form a stronger bond and hold better.

Don't use gorilla tape it dosen't adhere well to vinyl & will leave huge residue especially in warm weather.
