So torn on oil useage...
Ok first off I have a 2003 with 105,000khms (64,000 miles) on the S2... Should I be runing 10W30 Mobile 1 synthetic? Or should I be runing something thicker? I have been reading many posts but can't figure out what to use!
I will only be driving the car as a daily driver from April to Oct!

If you've been reading a lot of posts it seems like you should have run across threads pointing out that Mobil 1 has high volatility and shears quickly. I'd agree with the recommendation to not use Mobil 1.
There are a lot of good oils out there. Some people choose based on what's easy to get. Some try to go with what they think is the absolute best option out there. You really have to decide what your preferences are, do some UOA's, etc.
I use Amsoil's ATM 10W30 but you really need to pick based on your assessment and not mine.

Another thing you've got to understand is that there is a lot of unsubstantiated opinions out there regarding oil.
As is the case in most circumstances, whoever has the greatest marketshare will get the most bashing. Hence, lots of people bash Mobile1.
But, unless I'm mistaken, nobody can back anything they say with controlled experiments or studies.
Rest assured, any name brand oil will protect your engine just fine. I personally stay with synthetics though because at very low and very high temps, they do outperform conventional oils, in general.
Also, regarding the thickness or weight of the oil...it is what it is. In other words, your oil will be as thick as it needs to be at whatever temp it's at. You can't change that. That's what multi viscosity oils are all about.
Ok, get ready for people to bash me....

meh, I agree with davidc1. generally all oils are good enough, synthetic or otherwise..to protect our engines. I rock Mobil1 10W-30 currently. Used M1 EP before this, and before that, I had Redline 10W-30. Redline was the best of the three in my experience. It just quieted the car down so much, it was scary.

^really? I burnt maybe 1/3 as much with the RL but not "massive" amounts... then again, the guy who had this car previous never hit vtec so maybe it wore in properly.. (Vtec cam still had the "machined" look when I purchased it...now it properly has the worn in "polished" look)
