As a practical matter, it would appear that anybody who has a JR filter or a K&N has a "stock" filter, since they are basically identical. At least it seems that way on the surface and I can't say that I know that the components are made of the same materials.
Anyway, I have the JR filter and the snorkle. I replaced an RM Racing cold air induction piece with the snorkle. I'm sure that the right angle constriction in the snorkle hurts instead of helping when the car is not moving above fifty MPH or so. However, since the air that gets into the engine is ambient air, as opposed to hot engine bay air, I think that it has reduced the bogging I've experienced in hot weather stop and go traffic. As far as I know, there is no effective means to measure whether the setup is good or bad. Can't dyno a moving car I'd suppose.
