I have to disagree. I found my '00 to be very forgiving during the couple of track days I was fortunate to attend. I'd screw up, and then be amazed at how mild the car's reaction to my ham-fistedness actually was. YMMV.
Have you driven an AP2? Because all he was saying is that the AP2 is better than an AP1 in this regard. Not that an AP1 is uncontrollable in its own right.

Just wondering whether others have experienced this and maybe found ways to tame it a little.
The most overlooked option for most issues -- track time.

Since my AP1 has zero "snap oversteer" I don't see how the AP2 can have less.

Having owned and track both, I can categorically verify that the AP1 has significantly more oversteer than the AP2. (You all are free to debate "snap" oversteer vs just regular ol' oversteer - I don't think of it in those terms.)

The OP talks about OEM tires, and he has a MY06 so I suspect his tires are simply shot and in need of replacement. The OP has already started his tire purchase process, as well:

If you ask these guys that question without any details about your car's set up they will and you won't get any replies.I have an ap1 and have read/tried a few things.IMO,I'd try wider stickier tire and dailing in the dampening before I'd mess with SB's my .02 cents

I've never driven an AP2, so I accept your analysis. And I agree that my '00 oversteers under certain conditions, but there's no sudden, mysterious "snap" to it. I find it to be an amazing car: I screw up badly and it oversteers a bit, then I am amazed that the car is so tolerant of my incompetence.
