Default Smoking Brake Disc/No Brake Dust

Hi All,

As any enthousiast I clean my car regularly. When cleaning the rims, I find that there is a lot of brake dust on the front rims, while there isn't any on the rears.

Furthermore, after some spirited driving my rear right brake disc was smoking heavily. Its temperature was way higher than the temperature of the other brake discs. I tested this with my finger as thermomether, on the other three the discs were warm, on the rear right, I burnt my finger.

Does anyone have an idea why there is no break dust on the rear rims and why only the rear right disc gets very hot?

Gr. and thanks for any tips!

probably a sticky rear caliper. take the caliper off, clean and grease the slide pins.

+ bleed the brakes, you probably boiled your fluid back there.

Do you still have stock pads on the car? Stock AP1 brake pads don't dust much at all, you might want to go back to a stock set if the heavy dust on the front bothers you and you have a set of aftermarket pads.

you should, the front are responisble for 70-80 percent of the braking anyway.

you probably have a seized cliaper or cable, put the car on jack stand, have the ebrake with one click and see if you can turn the rear wheel when the car is in N.
if you sense there's restriction to the movement or hear something is scraping, the rear pad might be sticking.

depends on the degree of damage you might or might not reuse the rear pad, check the proportion of the ebrake cable, and grease up the sliding pin upon inspection.
