The air intake for the ventilation system is under the hood in front of the passenger. If you had a fuel leak, you could probably smell it. Do you have the same smell when you open the hood? Are you sure it is gasoline and not just a musty smell from an old and unchanged cabin air filter?

I had the same issue - check your fuel injectors. Mine were leaking and i smelled it through the vents.

just look all over the fuel rail for any moisture. Can probably just turn the key to 'on' and not start it, just to run the fuel pump and see where you are leaking.

Also, do you "top off" when you get gas?

I foud the probelm i have a leak in the injectors. Its weird bcos three of the four are leaking and i am going to replace all four of them.Hope that fixes it.

Is there a chance that my fuel rail has also gone bad?

most likely the o-rings have gone bad or they are not seated correctly into the fuel rail.

Agreed.... dont replace the injectors before you troubleshoot it.

O rings are much cheaper

For best results, oil the O-rings before you put them on, and make sure they are seated in the fuel rail properly. Mine were chewed up (2 of them) when i took them out and pretty dry..

Well at least you found the problem early. It could have been a disaster, gasoline on a hot engine is NOT a good thing

Out of curiousity those that are experiencing this problem did you buy your car new or used?

For the record mine was bought used (stock and no mods) and I experience this gas smell lets say once every 2 weeks. With nothing around to explain it.

I think that whatever used car dealers use to get the inside of an engine bay squeaky clean has got to be somewhat corrosive and bad on seals of any nature.

Or I am wondering if regular fuel injector treatments may harm them. I have put 15K miles on the car and used the gas treatments at each oil change.
