I was changing my serpentine belt today. As I was taking off the belt I noticed a welt oil spot on the front of my motor. I didn't have a camera at the time so I couldn't take an actual picture, but I remembered exactly where I saw the oil spot. It didn't look very bad and the car seems to be operating normally. I have a turbo kit waiting to be installed soon but I definitely want to get this issue fixed before hand.


The yellow spot represents where I saw the oil residue. Could this be a blown head gasket? Or busted seals? 2001 AP1 with 60k miles.

same thing happened to my car. Wasnt an expensive fix at all. I had oil coming out of the same place and that O ring above it. I'll look at my paperwork from the shop.

That is a very VERY common spot to see oil build up and gunk on the engine. Especially on higher mileage engines. Mine has been dirty for years. Unless you really see some serious oil that could be something but if it's build up it's "normal". My S is an original '00 owned it since day 1.

yeah i saw oil in the same area on my AP1 that has 62K. I wiped it away and after a month still no new residue. Not sure how it got there in the first place but seems common.
