Both seals have been known to leak, the main seal is most likely. Make sure the clutch disc didn't get oiled up.

I got the same problem a month ago. Got it fixed at the dealer; they replaced PN 91216-pg1-005. Mime is an 05 with only 7000 miles on it when I found the leak.

the above posted PN describes a Oil seal but it doesn't say where it goes?

The rear main seal goes around the end of the crankshaft, behind the flywheel.

If that starts leaking, does this require motor disassembly or just pulling the trans and clutch and replacing that seal?

Pull the trans, unbolt the clutch and flywheel. Then yank the old seal, and drive in a new one.

this is an expensive repair job for honda to pay if its a warranty claim. why wouldn't honda design a permenent fix for an important seal?? stupid IMHO.

There isn't a design problem with the seal. They are 1 piece seals that don't leak unless they get old and brittle, or they where cut or rolled during installation.

A 2 piece main seal like those commonly used 20 years ago leak much more
frequently.

It's pretty bold to say there is a design problem when you don't know where it goes and what it looks like.

This is completely off topic, but...

I learned yesterday if you swap an AP1 rear end with an AP2 it will give you a closer 1,2 gear and taller 5 and 6.
How would a rear end (differential only as I understand) have an effect on a gearbox?
Now if you think of a "rear end" all the way up to the flywheel & clutch.. you would make sense.
