Lightbulb Small Block

I have a 2002 S2k and I over reved at 10k and i have messed up my pistons, rods, cylider walls, and head. Right now i have the heads being redone. The next thing is gettin the small block out and off the transmission. A local mechanic will do it for $500 but I want to see how difficult it will be to see if I can do it myself.

you mean short block right? anyway if the head is off then it shouldnt be that hard cuz you should be able to get to the two top trans/block bolts. so if you have any experience pulling out a motor it shouldnt be that bad

If it's a small block chevy, It would have "heads".

It's a short block with the cylinder head (there is only 1) removed.

Buy a service manual, and follow the directions. There are many things that need to be done correctly to remove the engine. You will also need a very good assortment of tools to get the job done.

IMO you should not be attempting this. I dont think you have the automotive knowledge to do it. let the mechanic do it, and that way hopefully it will be done correctly. this is not an easy task, particularly for someone who knows very little about the S2000.
