Slow Leak Under Transmission
Hello fellow S2K owners,
I noticed a VERY VERY slow leak right under the transmission. I did not take a very long time to investigate where the leak is coming from. I checked the clutch fluid level and it looked about right. Any ideas on where to start or what it may most likely be? My car has been sitting there for 2 weeks and only the tiniest(slice of deli-meat)/thinnest blob of oil/fluid was under there. Enough to bother me and make me feel uneasy.
Thank you!
Regards,
Jeffrey Lee

there is a big difference in feel and smell between tranny fluid and brake/clutch fluid. Brake clutch fluid leaves a grippy/squeaky sensation when rubbed between your fingers and kind of smells pungent, tranny fluid is very slippery and has a strong petrochemical smell much like any gear oil. Motor oil is also distinguishable in terms of smell from the other two.
From the pics it looks like the drain bolt on the tranny is leaking, make sure it is torqued to spec, otherwise the washer is the culprit.

Most likely its not brake fluid as both clutch and brake reservoir is full. I will look into the torque of the bolts. If anyone else has any other ideas. Thank you!

Feel up above the drain bolt with your hands to make sure it isn't leaking from higher up. If it is dry above the drain bolt then I would crack it loose a half turn, dry it up with a rag and then re-torque it to spec and see if the leak goes away.
