Slight miss-fire
My 1999 Japanese import S2000 had an ECU fault which required a new ECU. It was miss-firing on cylinder 2 and as a result blew the coil pack and all four spark plugs. I have had the ECU replaced along with two coil packs and the plugs. It was running fine for a couple of days and now I have an intermittent problem At between 1500 and 2500 rpm there is a slight stutter / miss-fire. The wiring has been checked from the coil packs back to the ECu and there is no fault. Anybody have any suggestions other than the obvious drive it over the rev range!!

How did you determine the ecu was at fault?
Most misfires are caused by either injectors, coils or plugs alone. Not to say that it is impossible for an ecu to burn out a coil...but yours would be the first time I've heard that about an oem ecu. AEM EMS stand-alone ecu had an issue of blowing coil packs for a while...but that is a different situation.

i had the same issue and i done a compression test and it worked out cylinder 4 was down to 60 (the rest were at 120) so now im in bother.do the compression test so you can rule out any major faults

I took the car to Hye Line in Cardiff who replaced the ECU. They done a compression test and all was fine. They said that they had never heard of an ECU going but it was the ECU nevertheless.

Well...if you are still getting a misfire, it makes me wonder if they fixed the problem.
And I wonder how they determined it was the ecu that caused the coil pack to blow. It's not like you can plug it into a laptop and have the oem ecu tell you that it isn't working right.
It took a long while for AEM EMS users and AEM to figure out how the EMS ecu was causing coils to blow.
I would just be weary of that shop.
