With only 1200 miles into your S2000 ownership, there are going to be a lot of noises you haven't heard before. Just drive the thing and enjoy it and stop trying to listen for every little sound that seems foreign to you. It'll drive you crazy. If something is wrong, you'll know it. It's a new car, with warranty. If it breaks and you didn't cause it, they'll fix it.

Thats not the diff, thats VSA kicking in and braking the slipping tire, since the slipping tire is more than often a back wheel, it may sound like the noise is coming from the differential, but it probably isn't. Does a certain light flicker on the dash as you hear this noise?

No, I know what the VSA does, it almost sounds like the VSA is engaging but the ! light doesnt flash, It has been wet and the VSA has enaged so I know how it acts but today when turning regularly and accelerated reguarly it made a simular noise as the VSA but no ! light was indicated and the car didnt act like the VSA was enaged which made me think it was the diff engaging.

Ya I just figured that it was probably the diff engaging and I just hadn't noticed the sound before. If there is something wrong with the rear diff a light would come on right?

It has been wet
It may simply be the LSD locking up, as it should when encountering some wet surfaces in a turn, under acceleration.

No, if the diff goes bad, you will see NO light. The rear diff has no way of telling the computer that something is wrong. It'll just go BOOM!

Like I said, don't worry about it. You've done nothing harmful. Donuts on wet pavement is far better than trying it on dry pavement. Just keep in mind that whenever you "stress" the diff a lot, give it a bit of cool down time before you stress it again.
For example, it can take less than 1 minute of hard driving to jack up the diff temp about 10 degrees. It'll take 10 minutes of normal driving to bring it back down.

Well I appriciate your input, your know how you get when something is different on your car, but your reassurance will allow me to sleep tonight Haha, (dispite the horrible thunder storms going on where I live LOL). Thanks X

Well, you're not the only one worrying. I just picked up a new '06 (my 3rd S2K) and with about 600 miles on it, I'm hearing what sounds like a noticable diff whine between 55 and 60 MPH. It mostly kicks in when you give it some throttle, and isn't present in any other speed range.

I never noticed this in my other two S2K's, an AP 1 and an AP2. My previous AP2 had some slight gear whines from the tranny that I never noticed in my MY02. But I never heard any diff noises before.

I'm a little torn on whether to bother having Honda check it out at this point.
