Slight Crunch When Shifting Into 2nd
Well, I'm new to this board -- and to S2000 ownership -- I picked up a red 2000 last week. I hope I'm doing this right...
Anyway, when the car is cold, I get a slight crunch when shifting into 2nd, and the transmission seems a little less slick than it is when the car's been running for a while. After a few minutes of driving, the 1-2 shift goes back to normal.
I read the service bulletin (00-055) about a grinding noise when shifting into 2nd at high engine RPM, but this happens at all RPMs.
Any idea what's going on with my tranny?

My first thought is that it's normal. Until the transmission oil has had a chance to warmed up, the shifts will feel notchy and less smooth. As long as it passes once warm, you should be fine.

1-2 or 3-2 knocking noise is quite common for this car. its considered normal although there must be a design flaw. i dont know if yours is the same problem, but could very well be.
do a search on this topic, there has been quite a bit of discussion on this.
