Don't skip shift. I think Honda even released a TSB/article instructing not to skip shift.

this was discussed like 8 years ago hahaha. yea its bad to skip gears. going from 2nd to 6th gear is not recommend. even going from 2nd to forth or 1 to 3rd etc.

But its your car, drive it how u want but when it becomes difficult to put the car into gear or reverse. dont complain. cuz it will start getting more and more difficult to engage in gears

ooo but its fine if u rev match going Down gears. Going up can cause more issues, cuz your in that higher rpm and then it is forced to drop significantly when engaging in a much higher gear

Yes, it is bad on the syncros. They have to "work" harder to match the speeds of the respective gears.

That service news from Honda covers everything, there should be no debate or discussion after reading that article. It would be cool if that article was stickied or future use.

So GM trannys/syncros wear out faster due to the manual skip shift?

For economy reasons GM has used a mechanism that actually forces you to skip from 1st to 4th gear in a manual tranny for their "sports cars". Been there for years I believe.

Yet, on here people always say if you skip from 4th to 6th or 5th to 3rd, or whatever... your going to wear your syncros out?

Is our tranny like china or something?

I would have to think that when the design the specific syncro they used a different design for the gear that you would be skipping too (tripple cone vs. double cone, materials, etc.). Plus, yes Honda syncros have always been less durable than other makes. From the B-series, to the K-series, to the F20, they all don't seem to take a ton of abuse.

what is the point of skipping gears anyway!? i see people saying from 2nd to 6th!? i mean that is a big jump..im surprised that the car could actually pull its own weight by doing that!! especially ap1s, i have one and i dont skip gears coz it seems like the car couldnt pull its own weight lol..im sorry but skipping gears are just stupid..now on the other hand accidental skip could happen as it happened to me plenty of times...

No sometimes it feels like it would make sense.

Say you're feeling a good at the light and accelerate like a mad man through 1st and 2nd. Around the speed limit, you're done, and just want to cruise. You may go into 5th, or 6th on a regular car.

Well on the S, we should row through 3rd, 4th, 5th, while keeping the clutch down and then let out on 6th and carry on.
