Is skipping gears bad?
I was reading in this thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=372332
and came to the conclusion that skipping gears is bad for the tranny? Is it important to go through each gear while up shifting and down shifting? Can anyone explain what happens that is bad when you skip a gear? Just curious if I understood what I was reading.

This has been discussed in detail by many people, including myself. So as not to repeat myself, I punched in "skip shifting" into the search and came up with all sorts of threads on this.
Try it.
I'm sure you'll find one of my explanations somewhere in those and you'll get to see other peoples' opinions on it as well.
Happy reading.

Double clutching is pointless. It's not a Mack.

I see this from people who I respect and who know what they speak of, but I still can't buy it wholesale. How can it be okay to come into a hairpin (AP1) with a 30 mph exit speed (regular in auto-x)and jam first gear (and I do mean JAM), when a double-clutch blip, conversely, allows rev-matching and 1st. gear engagement like a hot knife thru butter? This isn't just first with the blocker ring, even a nice 2nd. gear corner feels more like you are working with the car with the double clutch, as opposed to leaning on the stick and waiting for the synchros to do their job that just rev-matching gets you. Hell, it practically sucks it into gear. I don't mean to be a dick, but can a blanket statement like "you never need to double-clutch in a modern manual car like the S" be made? Especially when the S2000 seems to be at its best when the driver and the car work together, rather than trying to beat each other into submission.
