What about the M Roadster engine? I would think that would be a good swap, size-wise... don't know much else about it :embarrassed:

well, the CL-S and NSX engines would require substantial modification to fit(i.e. to the transmission housing/clutch/everything), because they're transversely mounted(this is why the F20C is not often swapped into K and B series cars; the F is longitudinal, and doesn't fit on drivetrains designed for transverse engines). the Hood is also very low and the front track doesn't allow much room as far as width goes, ruling out boxer engines(think about it....911 GT3 engine...drools). The I6 from the M3/M Roadster would be great, but it's long and might not fit under the hood without dry-sumping it or putting a hood in with a bulge. (the BMW engine has a comparatively long stroke, and is tall - notice the hood bulge on ///M models.) anyways, I dont like engine swaps for other marque's hardware. the Civic/Accord/Integra/Prelude B series swap is so common because it's cheap, effective, and doesnt mess up the weight distribution/crashworthiness of the car, as anything short of a similarly sized and specced 2.0 litre inline 4 would do to the S2000...example=miata. stuff in a Ford 5.0 litre V-8 and you get a fast car will horrible understeer and lift-throttle oversteer. Wasn't the miata designed to be a good handler?...seems counter intuitive to destroy the balance that the factory graced it with. same goes for the S2000....the money you'd spend on a well-done engine swap for one of the very high-end engines that would fit/be an improvement upon the F20C would be better spent on a set of coil-overs, forged wheels, and some R compound tires. and you'd still have many thousands left of what you would have spent to get a supercharger to satisfy your need for more power.
It's perfect already, IMO.....
except maybe those gears....mmmmm 4.44 sounds really tempting.

god damn. i thought i new something about cars. That is, until i came here. You people know more shit than i think is good for anyone one person. I only hope to know half as much as you guys when i start fixing my S up.
