Default Single vs. Dual Channel Wideband O2

After searching I can't seem to come to an answer... What is the difference between single and dual channel wideband O2 sensors?

I'm looking at going with an AEM EMS system for my Vortech, and wanted to purchase a wideband O2 sensor to go with it.

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Basically the only need for a dual-band unit is for an V-Type engine. Vee as in V6, V8 etc. There will be an O2 sensor on each bank of cylinders after the collectors on the header. So an in-line-four, like our engine, only requires a single setup unless for some reason you need to collect data down-stream also.

AEM makes the UEGO setup: AEM Wideband

GaryRudolph,

You may want to join their forum. There is a specific forum in there for the AEM Wideband. It's where I did all my reading.

Ok, thanks, that makes sense. I thought there might had been a different sensor that sent two signals instead of one.

Is that right?

Yup. I sensor is a sensor. Now there are three different types out there, probably more that I am not aware of. 2 Bosch brands (each with a different connector), part numbers: 0 258 006 066 LSU sensor, and the 0 258 007 057 LSU sensor. The NTK Honda OEM is part#36531-P07-003. The Bosch ones run like $28.00~$50.00 each depending on from whom you purchase it and the honda one is over $100.00 IF you can find one.

The Bosch is what comes with the AEM UEGO. Here is the Honda wideband sensor:

I personally am building one from a kit from TechEdge. Wish me luck!
