Default Silicon grease for top

Recently I purchased a 07 S2K. The previous owner gave me a tube of Honda silicone grease called "Shinetsu" ,honda part #08789-9013.
When I ashed him what it was for all he indicated was that he was told to use it on the top. Obviously he never used it.
Can someone shed some light on where and how often this is to be applied?

Thanks so much.

Use it on EVERY exposed rubber seal on the car. Soft top, weather stripping under the hood, door seals, trunk seal .......

Again, anything rubber except for the tire treads and the foot pedals.

And to clarify: This is for the rubber seals, not for the actual soft top material.

It does not have a hard top.
I find it interesting that it is for the rubber weatherstripping. I have always thought silicon was considered bad for rubber much like ArmorAll.
So it is to be applied like some sort of ointment for the rubber? Not on moving metal roof parts?

Silicon is kinda bad for it. Are you sure it's not white lithium? (Normally the shinetsu stuff people buy). If it is silicon shinetsu, s/he probably just bought the wrong stuff.

p/n should read:08798-9013. prob a typo but use it spring & fall it keeps rubber seals from drying out avoiding leaks.
For the top use ragg topp or 303

That is the right product for all rubber seals, use it along the sides of the softop and the top windshield frame, basically any rubber weatherstripping, even the trunk and underhood cowl.

It is made to plump the seals so they make good contact with their mating parts, and it is designed to protect the seals so I don't think that it is harmful. Brake silicone grease is compatible with rubber parts so I don't think all silicone is bad, but I do remember the controversy with Armorall and the silicone in that product being bad for vinyl products, maybe not rubber ?.

The Shinetsu silicone is exactly what Honda calls for... I have used it annually for fourteen years and it does a good job of preserving the rubber and reducing air leaks.
