Should I use this replacement part?
I'm in the process of swapping my CV axle since the threads at the ends got cross threaded during removal when I just trying to retorque it to 220 ft-lbs. Anyways, napa-autozone-o'reilly didn't have CV axles so I had to get a new one online for $90 at http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...3-1714672.html
Anyways, on closer inspection, I noticed that the axle itself is smaller in diameter and the rubber boot clips don't look as well designed to stay together. You guys think this could be a problem? I'm wondering if I can move the oem boot clip from the old one to the new axle?

The axle itself looks a lot smaller and the hub with the six bolt holes looks like its been welded on the end while the other one(old one) appears to be all one piece. How good are the welds ? If it broke(at the weld) while your going very fast it could do a lot of damage to your car.

if it bothers you, you can knock off the boots and see if the new joints will fit the old shaft. from my experience, new units will be different from reman units - since the new ones gotta meet a price point and don't retain a lot of the oem parts like in this case the shaft. I've seen that with a few of the other cars I own(ed). I've installed FEQ parts before - where price is more important than quality. I never really cared about that though, since it wasn't my/friends/familys car in those cases...
