Shifting into 6th is weird.
I was driving hard through 3rd. I shifted at redline in first, second, and third and slowed down and shifted into 4th, 5th, and then I tried to shift into 6th but it wouldn't go. I downshifted to 5th, then 4th, and back to 5th then 6th. It finally went into sixth with a little more pressure than usual. The car drives normally in 6th once in gear. With the car stopped, I shift 1st-5th just fine but 6th sounds and feels like it is scraping. Anyone seen this before? Thanks.

My 5th and 6th are sometimes notchy when cold. Once the car warms up they are smooth as silk. Could be the synchros are a little worn (even though mine's an '03 with 47kmiles on it). In any event, I now try to warm the transmission up before I start shifting into 5th and 6th.

I get the same thing in MY00. Sometimes 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd is rough but 5th-6th always feels weird. Its not a grind but its not a smooth transition either. Worn synchros is my guess

Do any of you "skip-up-shift"?
IOW 1st - 2nd - 3rd - (then you are going fast enough) - 6th?
If so, that is most likely your problem => stop doing it.
(but the "damage" is done)
Change transmission oil more frequently.
Search the OIL JOURNALS for another transmission oil.

Synchro wear.
When you shift from 3rd to 6th, the 6th gear synchro has to do a lot more work.
Slowing down the mainshaft to the engine revs that "belongs" to 6th gear at that road speed.
(read it more then once... )
More work then it was designed to do => 5th to 6th.
If you go through all the gears that slowing down is devided into smaller steps.
"skip-up-shifting" wears out synchro's.
There are many MANY posts about it here.
What "damage" are you talking about?

No skip shifting in my car. I've had it since 33kmiles and its currently got 47kmiles. I've tried replacing the MTF with Honda OEM and I have Specialty Formulations MTL-P in the transmission now and I like how it feels. It could be that I've changed my driving style and it makes me notice the feeling more. I got the car last December and it was my first manual.
The 5th/6th feeling has come in the past 3kmiles and I've just decided to play nice-nice with it and hopefully I'll smooth out the synchros. I will say that it has got better than it was when I noticed it originally.
