Shifter swap
When I bought my car used it came with a cheap aftermarket shift knob that was installed incorrectly. As a result the threads were all fudged up. I wanted a VooDoo knob, so I also purchased a used shifter lever, so it would screw on correctly.
Well, I tried to do the swap tonight with limited success. I got the old 1 out fine, but I had to take several parts off the old shift lever to put on the new lever; the rubber boot that covers the 3 bolts, & the 2 different sized nylon pieces that fit over the 2 ball sockets. The smaller nylon piece cracked when removing it, but it was still whole. The large nylon piece broke in 2 while trying to put it on the new lever, and the rubber boot developed a large tear while trying to remove it from the old lever.
I managed to put everything together with the broken pieces, and it works for now, but I want to replace all the broken pieces. I ordered them, but before I start trying to put everything together again, I'd like some advice as to how to get the rubber boot on, and how to get the nylon pieces on without breaking anything.
Has anyone done this before? Here is a link to the S2000 shifter if you want a visual. The parts in question are 7, 8, & 9.

How much is the RP Short Shifter, and where did you get it?
But besides that, how do you put on the 2 nylon pieces and the rubber boot that covers the 3 bolts on the OEM shift lever without breaking or tearing anything?
Also, I used Honda Urea High Temp Grease to re-lube everything...is that the right stuff to use?

all those annoying little nylon things get quite agreeable when faced with boiling water

I don't know which style of boot honda uses for the s2k (picturing about 10) but new rubber parts aren't nearly as crispy as an older one
a small hairdryer will warm and soften most rubber parts without damage
i am a tech at a small independant garage and get to work on everything -the very reason for owning an s2000

If you look at the link in the 1st post it is part #9. You can also see it in the picture in the 2nd post. It covers the plate w/ 3 holes in it for the bolts.
