2 Motor mounts and 1 transmission mount are whats holding up the engine and the transmission. Since transmission is bolted to the engine, when the the engine moves the transmission moves.

Since motor mount is fluid filled, if it is broken, you might see brown or copper solution running down the side of the mount. Or you can try jacking up the engine and looking at the engine mount from the top. If it is broken you'll see the tear.

Thanks Ray, I'll check for that. Can the motor mounts just fatigue without a tear?

Thanks to all for your input!

You wouldn't have that much movement unless they were torn.

update: The OEM mounts did not leak nor have any tears. Maybe some of the rubber contact points were worn. I didn't have new OEM mounts to compare to. They were probably just degraded to the point of wobble.

I've since replaced it with Innovative motor and tranny mounts (60A duromoter) and the wobble has completely disappeared. This also netted much better shift response and feels much more solid!

NOTE: I've also installed a Full Race turbo kit. The hotside (only ceramic coated) separated by only 1 inch, melted the passenger side mount like it was made of wax. I've already replaced the melted insert and wrapped the hotside with an inconel shield and will be wrapping the mount soon.

a thousand words:

When my car did that, it was both of the engine mounts.

With your mileage, I'd start there.
I agree, same here. Mine shook like hell when I pulled out from a stop and pulled to an angle then "wobbled" to and fro lol. I had 128k miles give or take when I put my new mounts in and I got a set of Innovative steel replacement motor/tranny mounts from LooseBoltsMotorsports. The customer service was more than excellent. Now, heres my argument. When I pulled my stock motor mounts out the bushings literally crumbled in my hands, meaning the motor was basically jus chillin lol. Now however, no such "wobbling" occurs and I get a track-car-feel when I drive it. I got the 75a grade mounts so those are pretty damn stiff. Either way, if you think theres a possibility of aggressive plans for the car in the future I suggest giving this mod a try. Hope that helps

The75A durometer is stiff. Innovative gave me 75A to replaced my melted exhaust side 60A inserts (black one in pics). My rearview mirror is a blurr.
