Default Shift boot/top question

is the shift boot supposed to be this low?

that is on the passenger side

The shift boot looks about right to me, but I don't own a 04-05.

My top has always made some noise going over bumps, when it's up.

It looks like the top of your boot is folded inwards and pushed down. Unfold it and lift it up.

you can pull the console, and put a rubber grommet over the shifter.

The boot will sit perfect

Another solution is to put use a plastic zip tie just under the lip. That worked for me.

The previous owner put on about 1/2 inch of electrical tape. Yeah, go figure.

But that's not a problem anymore, because I removed the top and installed a nice lambskin leather boot and it looks great.

$29 at pep boys.

Do a search and you will find plenty of previous threads discussing the clicking noise from the top. Here is one post with the picture of the solution to eliminate the noise:

hmm looks like someone decided to revive my old thread. lol.

i fixed the clicking top by unscrewing the screw and removing the plastic piece to spray some wd40 in there. i put everything back and it has been fine ever since.

the shift boot i didnt really know how to get it back up without taking off the console, so i didnt bother. it doesnt really bother me now anyways.

Oh, dear. Chronic shift boot droop, something that's more embarrassing than publicly itching hemorroids. I mean, if your shift boot droops, well, that reflects on your other drooping parts, right?

Take off the knob (the shift knob), slide the boot off the top of the shifter, unfold the top some more, and put it all back together. That should do it. HPH
