i dont care if you race or not... i know i can shift at 8300 and stay in vtec.. .dont believe me come to illinois and ill take ya for a ride... the longer your clutch stays in the more horsepower you LOSE!!! its common since... because your rpm head right back to ZERO!!! you have to stay high in the rpm range to keep yourt hp built up...

Been proven (in the real world) many times you have to shift the S at redline for best 0-whatever. Not so hard to try it yourself (a passenger w/stopwatch, a G-Tech, or a video cam replay can all work). The difference is not that subtle.

I also heard that the S has the most torque on 8300RPM... But I don't think you would catch the Vtec in the next gear...

Here is the chart showing force in each gear:

And here is a post making the same point:

Yes, you are still better shifting at redline in every gear.

did it tonight... swear to god ... and no im not slipping the clutch... i can drive pretty damn good... shifted between 8300 and 8400 rpm... hard to be that precise when you are ripping gears... it bounced to like 6000 or 6100 rpms... that was slammin it into 2nd and dumping the clutch.. kinda hard to slip it when ya dump it... and from 2nd to third it did the same... im not like just shiftin normally here,,, im slammin gears hard...just like you would be doing in a race... because if you are just casual shifting at 8300 rpm or even worse 9000 rpms... thats pretty harsh

Well, regardless of whether it can be done it not, the charts shows its not the best way to shift. Argue with that, and I'll say you're an idiot.

swknikko could be hitting 2nd gear hard enough to break the rear tires loose long enough to stay in VTEC. That still doesn't mean that it is quicker.
