When my 01 AP1 is cold it goes to 7k...
cold limit is 7k and vtec will not engage.

Thanks Neutered----explain why not engaging to Vtec? what are the cause?

Anyway, I found the problem. I put the stock sensors back (coolant temp & oil sensor)...boooom, all the way to 9,000 now!

I will just install my own sensors in separate way for my gauges.
As mentioned before, there are a few variables the ECU checks before engaging VTEC - oil pressure and coolant temp being among them.

If your ECU is not receiving a signal from your coolant temp sensor, it inhibits VTEC b/c it defaults to "no". You plugged everything back in and it started to work because your ECU was able to determine that your coolant temp was above the threshold.

Using the other sensors isnt the problem. You just have to make sure those signals are still provided to the ECU.

Perfect example is my AFR wideband 02 sensor...it plugs into the sensor module (PLX) which then sends the wideband signal to the gauge controller and provides a narrowband output that is spliced back into the ECU AFR sensor input.

Yeah it does. Other sensor has different resistors (coolant and oil especially). It will not match the voltage signal. Sensors has resistance.

That can be corrected.

If there was no way around that, you wouldn't see guys with aftermarket gauges

Thanks for the tips Chris:
I don't have blog but I do have pictures which I think I showed it here a while back. I will PM and send you some pictures.
Look like you also have the 7 with S2000 ?

I used the stock ECU for durability and dependability.
I used the stock wet sump...again for dependability issue.
I installed the engine way back (pushed as much as I can).
I think supercharger will now fit in the front (just incase my plan change)
Installed the primary-secondary o2 sensors.
Everything in stock configuration. I don't think I need anymore power.
