Sensor & Cat?!...
Hi guys!
My car has thrown up a P0132 malfunction code...the honda garage said was likely o2 sensor but wasn't sure without further investigation. (£100 worth of investigation)
So i took it to my auto electrician brother-in-law (he has all the diagnostic gear). He's saying it's the cat. I trust he knows what he's saying but i just wanna sound this out with you. He says the sensors are working fine but the rear one is kicking off because the cat is not working 100%.
Does this ring true?
Also if the cat does become a problem - what options do i have? can i just de-cat & still pass mot's? Or do you guys know a good place to order a cat?
The garage deleted the code, the light is off for now, the car runs perfect - and i just past an mot so i have a year to figure this out really.
But i gather that light will be back sooner or later...
Any thoughts?

P0132 is a code for the front o2, which has nothing to do with the cat. The rear 02 reads cat activity.
Even if the code was for the rear o2, the cat is not the problem. A bad cat will set a P0420, in which case you could replace the cat or use a spark plug spacer
Your car very likely needs a front o2 sensor.

Ah. Ok, confusing then. He showed me the read outs and everything as the engine was running, explaining how the front sensor was working fine but the back was unhappy. How has he got this so wrong!? The Honda garage seemed pretty confused as well really. A mystery then. Not sure where to go from here.
I guess wait and see if the light comes back on first off.
Thanks for the info!!

He got it wrong because he doesnt understand how it works.
He saw little activity in the rear 02 sensor and assumed it was bad.
It is SUPPOSED to have little activity as the cat deteriorates, the activity will increase. This is how the ECU determines you have a bad cat.
No mystery. just the facts man
